Derek Richards

Derek Richards has been carving working decoy ducks and wildfowl in the traditional American style since the late eightes. Having discovered one of America's unique folk art forms while living in the USA, he subsequently studied and worked with one of America's leading contemporary carvers, Mark McNair in Virginia.

Using only traditional carving tools, Atlantic White Cedar and oil paints, his birds have a very individual style and have become highly collectable.

He appears in the recently published book entitled 'Significant Figures in Art & Craft Today', and is a member of the Somerset Guild of Craftsmen.
